Commission is how this site is funded. It pays for research time, hosting, and the work of keeping guides reviewed and current. We do not run display advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not charge readers.

Programmes we participate in

• Amazon Associates — our primary programme. The majority of product links on this site point to Amazon. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
• Other retailer and network programmes. From time to time we may participate in additional affiliate programmes run by outdoor equipment retailers or affiliate networks. Where we do, the same rules in this disclosure apply without exception.

How commission affects our recommendations

It doesn’t. We hold ourselves to five rules, and they are not negotiable.

• We never rank a product higher because it pays more commission.
• We never accept payment in exchange for a placement, a ranking, or a favourable verdict.
• We recommend the cheaper option whenever the research supports it, and we say when a premium option is not worth the difference.
• We publish the weaknesses of every product we recommend, alongside a plain statement of who should skip it.
• We are willing to conclude that nothing in a category is worth buying, and to say so.

Manufacturers and retailers have no input into our content. They do not review articles before publication, and they cannot pay to change a verdict.

How our recommendations are actually formed

Every recommendation on Ember Terrace comes from research, not from hands-on testing. We read manufacturer specifications and manuals, check published safety and certification documentation, and analyse verified owner reviews at volume to find the faults that repeat.

We do not operate a laboratory or a test kitchen, we do not accept review samples, and we never claim personal use of a product. Our About Us page explains the method in full.

How to identify affiliate links

Any link that takes you to a retailer’s product page — including buttons labelled “Check price” or similar — should be treated as an affiliate link. We display a short disclosure near the first such link on every page that carries one, in addition to this policy.

Links to manufacturer documentation, safety standards, our own articles, and reference sources are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.

Pricing and availability

Prices, availability and product listings on retailer sites change constantly and are outside our control. Any price mentioned on this site is indicative only and correct at the time of research. The price shown at the retailer at the time of purchase applies.

Cookies and tracking
